Steve Paterson
Steve Paterson is sculptor who works primarily
in clay and wax and specialises in figurative and portrait work. Steve’s earlier
ornamental pieces are in collections all round the world and his more recent
portrait studies and private commissions have been winning high acclaim and
commendation at various exhibitions.
His portraits from life are based on intense observations and he endeavours to
capture the personality and individual mannerisms of each sitter and is
fascinated by the endless possibilities presented by the human head in its
infinite variety.
His working style is influenced by early to mid 20th century Scottish portrait
sculptors such as Benno Schotz and William Lamb.
Steve is currently working toward a one man exhibition – “Hagiography”. A series
of portraits using friends and acquaintances as analogies for actual, obscure
and occasionally fictitious saints, as well as a number of private commissions.
