Widely recognised as the foremost male traditional singer in Scotland, as well as a superb guitarist and mandola player, Rod Paterson has produced a very large body of recorded work. Among his many projects are two solo albums, three recordings with the group Easy Club and the new definitive series of discs of the songs of Robert Burns (of which Rod is a renowned interpreter) and Fergusson’s Auld Reekie. He is a founder member of seminal Scottish band Jock Tamson's Bairns, and has written a number of songs and adaptations of traditional material.

Rod has also been involved in stage productions such as The Ship and The Big Picnic and has featured on many radio and TV programmes, including BBC’s The Transatlantic Sessions with Emmylou Harris and Phil Cunningham.
