Poet Raymond Vettese was born in Arbroath in 1950 but has been resident in Montrose for many years.
His working life began as a journalist with the Montrose Review group and subsequently he became a barman, process worker, civil servant and host-nation teacher at the Amercian School at RAF Edzell.
A recipient of the William Soutar Fellowship and a Scottish Arts Council bursary, Raymond’s first book, The Right Noise, won the Saltire Society Best First Book Award in 1989. His second volume, A Keen New Air, was published by the Saltire Society in 1995 and a third collection, Roond, will appear this year.
Raymond is married to Maureen and is now Library Assistant at Montrose Library.
