Peter Kerr was a farmer in East Lothian, a clarinettist-leader of premiere jazz band The Clyde Valley Stompers and a highly successful music producer before taking off to Mallorca with his wife and two sons in the 1980s to take on a run-down orange farm - something that he knew absolutely nothing about!

Today Peter is Scotland’s best-selling travel writer and can count Hollywood actor Michael Douglas as a fan. Snowball Oranges (which won Bronze Prize in the prestigious American Book of the Year), Mañana Mañana (short-listed for the W H Smith British Book of the Year), Viva Mallorca! and A Basketful of Snowflakes, his critically acclaimed Mallorcan-based books, have sold in large numbers worldwide and have been translated into ten languages.

An autobiography, Thistle Soup, was published in 2002. Peter’s latest travel book, From Paella to Porridge, tells of the Kerr family’s final year in Mallorca and what they got up to on returning to East Lothian. His works of fiction include those of the humour-laced Bob Burns mystery series as well as the quirky town-meets-country caper Fiddler On the Make and The Gannet Has Landed, a forthcoming romantic adventure set in Mallorca.

As well as being a prolific writer Peter is also a talented artist and illustrates his own work.
