Tessa Mendez, Felt-making Workshop

Glenesk Retreat and Folk Museum, 10:00-13:00, 14:00-16:00 Friday 21 September

Tessa Mendez works mainly with textiles and mostly with felt, drawing on nature, architecture and art for design ideas, at times playing with colour and texture in fibres and letting the resulting fabric suggest a use. Her work is frequently embellished with hand- or machine embroidery, beading and wire, each piece being individual. She makes fine garments, bags, hats, book covers, jewellery, vessels or soft sculptures and ‘paintings’ in fibres. Find out all about using felt and other fibres in this exciting workshop (please note there is a charge to cover the cost of materials). An exhibition of Tessa’s work will be housed for the duration of BAF 2007 in The Glenesk Retreat and Folk Museum. www.feltunique.co.uk
