Robin Clarke, Instrument-making workshop

Glenesk Retreat and Folk Museum 11:00-16:00 Monday 17 September

£5

Originally from the Welsh Marches, Robin Clarke built his first musical instrument at the age of ten. This consisted of a length of wood from a biscuit tin as a sound box, fishing line for strings and wood screws for tuning pegs. Since then he has made a range of instruments from various materials. Among these are bodhrans, a variety of woodwind instruments and complex stringed instruments such as mandolins and hurdy-gurdies. Robin will show you how to make your own musical instrument at this workshop.
