Clare Yarrington,     Cliffs, Crags and Climbers,      The Mechanics’ Institute

Clare Yarrington’s interest is in how our environment has been formed and how we interact with and perceive it. Through drawings, prints and mixed-media collages she explores the landscape around us and the experience of climbing and journeying in the hills and mountains. Drawings done in situ convey the immediacy of being in the landscape. Different printing methods allow more considered study while scraps of previously discarded work are treated as visual fragments in a virtual ‘archaeological reconstruction’.
